My BF is in jail for running away when he was on house arrest... hes probably in there for a while and I lost hope in bail, but Im in a different state right now, and Id move back to the state hes in if I knew I could do something...

I wanted to know if I would be able to visit him, even tho Im just his gf, and if not can I say Im his fiance, cuz we kinda are engaged just no ring yet because we are poor. Would I be able to visit then?

And how to letters and phone calls work?
Like can I write him and if so how?
thanks

If he is in jail or prison, each facility will have thier own rules, there is no one set of rules even within the same state.

The best thing is to call the jail and ask.

For example ( this is alittle old info) but in baxley GA the county jail allows any inmate who wants to go into the yard go and thier visitors can merely be on the outside on the other side of a side walk and visit.

Some jails allow the prisoners to make phone calls anytime they want, others allow them a specific time on a certain day

They can mail leters any day nromamly

Nearly all county jails do allow some type of personal visit, but you would have to call the facility to find out when and what days.

You can write letters if you know his exact inmate number and address of the facility.

You can not call him, but he can call you collect. If there's a death in his family, you can ask the facility to relay that message to him.

I don't know what state you are in but I am in California and my boyfriend is in jail right now also. To keep informed on where he is, when his court date is and his booking # to write to him I go to the L.A. County Sheriff inmate info web site. You type in the name of the person you are looking for and all your questions will be answered.

Im pretty sure that you have to be a family member to visit him.I would encourage you to call the jail and see.

Stay in the state you are in and find yourself a new bf who hasnt had any run ins with law enforcement. Why would you want to be involved with someone like that anyway?

you can visit him...but...you have to be on his list of visitors...you can write him...but...you need his ID#...which is very easy to get...do a search on the jail he's in...put his name in...all the information you need will be found there...visiting, writing...everything...

I believe your BF will have to put you on his visitor's list. See his case worker for details.
