aww, poor little guy. welps, i know both plays a very important role in your life for both of them are companions. hmm, like everyone has mentioned, you do need to take some time out from your relationship and spend some time with your doggy. I know you need both in life and to get the best of both worlds, maybe you can setup to have picnics at the park once a week where you can have your dog and bf together the same time. You and your bf will have fun playing and spending time in the park together. Also, have your bf come over and go out for walks, it can be romantic for the both of you and your doggy won't feel left out. As long as you're out doors, you should be able to take your doggy with you almost anywhere besides restuarants.
The only way you can stop him from going into mischieft is to give him a bit of attention. If you think about it, if you had a friend that is always there for you then suddenly went away to be with someone else, you'd be depressed too. It can be a drastic change for humans... its the same for dogs as well. They may not have emotions or feelings but they have dependencies and they do get sad because they miss your presence. Dogs depend on us most to take care of them, love them, and to give them attention. Good luck!

Pugs are small dogs...the quickest, simplest solution is put the trash out of reach. I have to do that for my dog. You could also try training him. There are lots of books and websites that address behavioral issues like this. You also need to make sure you're not giving the dog less attention...give it toys, play with it, take it for long walks, etc.

Have you both spent time with your dog? Maybe if you both spend a little time with the dog before you go out, it will lessen his anxiety. Once in a while, take him with you to dog friendly places?
I keep my trash out of reach - I use a metal can with the foot lever. The dogs have not figured it out yet . . .

Ya see what your boyfriend is teaching your dog? Trash abuse can be very cruel. Tell your bf you need to spend more time with the wittle guy.

My dad is a vet and he says that if an animal that is used to having all your attention loses it to someone or something else they will act similarly to a child who is jealous of a sibling by causing disruptions to get your attention.
