Easy, the tall one!

I teach engineering at a university and this is a type of question I always ask the first week. My question is usually "what is the name of the dog?" and I am looking for a guess like Fido, spot, etc. It is a question to see if you can come up with an answer, any answer.

The guy with the fish might be borrowing the aquarium from someone else. :-)

No one owns the aquarium because the aquarium is not a pet, nor is it one of the items listed.

I'd say the German does.

Let me know whether I'm right or not, I've invested *some* time in solving it ^_^
