Only one city has for more than 2000 years been known as the city on seven hills. That city is Rome. The Catholic Encyclopedia states: "It is within the city of Rome, called the city of seven hills, that the entire area of Vatican State proper is now confined" (The Catholic Encyclopedia, Thomas Nelson, 1976, s.v. "Rome").

It most likey is Rome because Rev 17:18 tells us that the woman sitting up on the seven hills is the great city that rules the Kings of the earth. Rome pretty much ruled the world in its day and if indeed there is to be a revived Roman empire (as some believe) then Rev 17 speaks of that. If on the other hand Rev 17 speaks of Rome in its antiquity during the time of the first Christians, then it still fits.

Rev17:18The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth."

Yes it is certainly Rome. The Book of Revelation mostly predicts the fall of the Roman Empire. All the places involved were contemporaneous to the fall of Rome and many of the cities and nations mentioned no longer exist. A lot of the events (except the monsters and daemons) all came to pass in the mid 5th century AD and most of the rest happened around the fall of Constantinople when it was sacked by the Turks.

That specification eliminates ancient Babylon. Only one city has for more than 2000 years been known as the city on seven hills. That city is Rome.

Mystery Babylon is not Rome. Once the false prophet sits in the temple of God the holy city Jerusalem will BECOME Mystery Babylon.

Mystery Babylon sits on seven mountains (Re.17:9 below).

The seven mountains on which the woman sits are the seven continents of the earth. In the beginning, the waters of the earth covered the mountains (Ps.104:6).

The WATERS (Re.17:15 below) represent peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Mystery Babylon’s power is world wide (Re.13:7, Dan.7:23 below), upon every continent, effecting all peoples (Re.17:15 below).

Re.17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven MOUNTAINS, on which the woman sitteth.

Ps.104:6Thou coveredst it (the earth) with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains (Re.17:9 above).

Re.17:15 And he saith unto me, The WATERS which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues (Re.13:7, Dan.7:23 below).

Re.13:7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over ALL kindreds, and tongues, and nations (Dan.7:23 below).

Dan.7:23Thus he said, the fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

I'm Catholic, and the city is Rome. And the AntiChrist revelations talks about was Caeser Nero.

BUT, Revelation is a history of the church, most things have happened, some haven't! Revelation is not like a crystall ball into the future.

Thank God Rome is Christian now. What a miracle.

Actuallly Babylon the Great is the World Empire of False Religion.

Cities in the bible can be symbolic of organizations and governments.

Since, rulers cause her death and merchants weep over her loss. And
she drinks the blood of faithful ones the only group left is religious, and false.

Go a little further in the chapter. It also talks about 7 kings. Kings is symbolic of empires. Verse 10 five are fallen; (Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, the Medo-Persian, and the Greek), and one is (Roman), and the other is not yet come (Great Britain).
