It's against the law to hire a child because of child labor laws. However, there are other routes for part-time jobs. One being a newspaper route, baby sitting, cleaning yards, dog sitting/walking and pet watching. There are many options to take however, I would only do this with a trusted adult like your parent/guardian.
Also, talk to your parent/guardian and see if you can do internship at their work.
The reason people will say a person under 16 is too young to work in a store setting is often you're dealing with the direct public--which can be quite nasty. Oh, and if word gets around that a young person is working there more people will try to take advantage of that person (in many different ways...). So, there is a good reason for not getting a job in a store.
You seem ambitious and I stress talking to a trusted adult for advice and help. You'll do fine and remember to write out the goals you're trying to get to and ask yourself why you need money this badly. Good luck.

Local laws either prohibit hiring someone that young or severely restrict the number of hours you can work. Some suggestions to make money:
1. It's almost Fall. You can clean the leaves from the gutters of houses. You can also rake leaves in the yard.
2. Grass cutting. Always a money maker.
3. Deliver newspapers.
4. Deliver discount coupons and flyers for restaurants.
5. You can always babysit.
Good luck!

No stores are going to hire a 13 year old. You either have to be 16 years-old, or get a work permit at age 15.
You can always try to start baby-sitting for some people who live around you.
Good luck.

If you can make your way to China I hear Nike has a great position for you.
Other than that, if you don't live in an area infested with illegals aliens you may be able to find odd jobs in the neighborhood mowing lawns, cleaning garages and running errands.
Make up some posters and put them on telephone poles around where you live letting people know you are looking for odd jobs.
If the neighbors know you....and you are a good kid in their eyes, you'll find work.
If you are a little turd? Then probably not.
Good luck.

No stores are legally allowed to hire someone under the age of 15, at least in New York State.

In some states, there are summer programs through the work force development agencies that help place kids 14-21 in sutable working situations for the summer. AT 13 you would have to come up with something on your own, babysitting, tutoring youner children, paper route etc,etc.....

It may be difficult to find a job at a chain restaurant or store, but you may try a locally owned shop. You'll probably have to get your parents to sign a waiver of some sort too.
You could also try mowing yards, babysitting, petsitting, etc. You could also find a family member or family friend who owns a business that may let you work a few hours a week.
Good luck!

Why not share a paper route with a friend and baby sit, and help with gardening during the summer on the side. This sort of thing will go on your file in school and they will help you build a resumé including these small jobs you have done for a start.
This sort of thing is always good for starters.

It's against the law to hire children....child labor laws. You can start your own business...babysitting,,,lawn service,,,,dog walking....cleaning garages & storage areas.....doing household chores for the elderly, etc.
My daughter worked at 6 Flags when she was 14 but there were a lot of restrictions.

Why do you need a job at 13?
You're too young to legally work anyway.
