My neice who is 18 months old is living with my grandma because my brother is just too darn lazy to take his daughter home every night. He won't even pay our mom. It has even hurt her back and wore her out. She's almost 50. My neice's mom on the other hand is a drug addict, uses her older son's social security check(who is 4 years old) to buy beer and she hangs around child molestors and dates them. When my neice stays with her, she's always neglected, not properly taken care of.

Suggestions? Hope this makes sense.

Step up be a good sister/ daughter take them to court for custody yourself. I know it sounds crappy but your niece should not be anywhere near her mother and someone should stop it. now your brother if he is just lazy should either step up or give up legal custody to you or your mother but since you say she is too much for your mother may be you should help out not, to help your brother but to save your little niece from this kind of life. Don't get me wrong I am not trying to criticize you but I have a brother who was in a similar situation the only difference was I had to get custody of my older brother and help him get clean while I helped take care of his baby. It all depends on what sacrifices you are willing to make for your family. Your niece needs you right now so step up and help out.

. Well if her mother is hanging out with child molesters and dating them Im going to assume she is not with your brother and he has custody. First if this is all true the 4 yr old is in danger being around these people. 2nd... if when your niece is with her she is neglected then she shouldn't be with her mother at all. I know taking care of a kid is hard especially when you are older,,,, can you help your mother out some? Where does your brother live? It would be easy to say well just don't let your brother leave her there... but I personally would deal with the extra trouble to keep the baby safe.

Call Child Protective Services, Report her to Social Security

I'd talk with your mom about getting your niece taken away from your brother and his gf. If they aren't taking care of her, then they shouldn't be allowed to have her with them. Let social service know what the GF is doing. I can't imagine anyone would hang around molesters..especially if they have a child. SICK...

I think that child protective services should be the one to deal with the baby's mom. As far as your mom goes, sometimes just plain NO goes a long way. But I know how hard that can be for your mother to say. She should just talk to your brother ( or you can to) and tell him what she/you think. He may not know how it is affecting your mother!

Unless your mom does something he will continue like that. tell her to say something to him. Maybe she can go to court to get custody. If she does not want that then tell him if he does not pick up his child she is going to call the police. People only treat you the way you allow them to. He probably knows your mom isn't really going to do anything so he does not care.

First things first, almost 50 is not old.

The problem here is that your niece actually sounds better off with her gran, or anyone apart from her parents. If your mum she really can't cope, I think you have to get social services involved.
