If you're open to the idea of God at all, just pray and ask Him to show you the truth, to show you Himself. Then go and seek the truth. Ask hard questions of the Christians you know. Read the Bible. If it is true, you will find Him.
These books may help you, too: Evidence That Demands a Verdict and also A Case for Faith.

God is a non-scientific (not-antiscientific, mind you) phenomenon. The existence of God , therefore, can niether be proved or dispoved by any hard scientific evidence. Its a matter of faith. Don't force yourself to believe in God , until you are genuinely convinced and develop faith in God, based on your own personal experiences.
And believe me, even science, to some exrent, is based on faith. For instance, to give a simple example, you must have faith in Galilio and his supporters, ie. all scienctists, to believe that earth moves around the sun, though your daily experience is that sun rises and sun sets.
Similarly, if you are sincerely curious to know about the existence of God you, should read, of corse, with an open mind, the books written by those believers in God, whom you think are honest, truthful, reliable, trustworthy, and of cousre, have no vested interest in telling a lie. So experiment with the belief in God, for the sake of experiment, and take it as a mere hypothesis till you are firmly convinced about the existence of God. Even in science, we begin with a hypothesis and accept or reject it ,depending upon our evidence. Good luck.

I read before that you must "go to the mountain" but I don't recall what mountain it was. Maybe just any mountain. I think you just sit or stand there and something happens and it's a miracle and you come away as a believer. Worth a try I guess if you have nothing else planned for that day.

Good question. I have a scientific background and I have a lot of trouble accepting something with no proof. Part of me wants to believe, but part of me thinks its just mans way of trying to cope with death. You make up a fantasy land that dead people go to because its scary to think that your life is what you make of it and when its over, its over. I don't know the answer and my answer sure isn't much of one, but I'm sure interested in any good answers.

Be outdoors more often, you'll notice more of what God created. Every living thing has its place on earth which helps support other living things.

You should watch M. Night Shyamalan's 'Wide Awake'. You can't convince yourself to believe in God, it simply comes to you.

You shouldn't have to. Your should follow your heart and intuition. When you find where your faith lies you won't have to ask questions like this. You will know it is your truth, no convincing needed.
