most will be used in museums for displays, some will be taken apart for spare parts for the future shuttles/vehicles

Having worked on the shuttle program, I hope the shuttles are retired with honor! They have done the job they were designed to do,but are now old and need to be replaced. I would like to see the next generation of spacecraft, designed and built by private enterprise, without any government involvement. Only then will we make any real progress in space.

Museums. I could imagine one going to Dayton, Ohio, one at Cape Canaveral, one in Texas, another in California, and definately at the Smithsonian. That's five locations for three shuttles remaining. If you include the Enterprise, four museum pieces.

nicely, there's an excellent probability the gap Shuttles could not even retire precisely in that twelve months. i think the shuttles will pass on show on the national Air and area Museum while they're expired.

they will probably be taken apart and some of the parts will be sold like the concord and the rest will go in a museum or be scrap

I think NASA will sell it to private investors... Yea when pig fly.
1 will go to a museum somewhere and all others will go to a field and never be seen again.

what a sad world it will be after 2010....not really (no more going to space how sad) but yea i think they will be stored( in some top secret government run site),

i think they will be stored, for History, like they stored "Enterprise" in Smithsonian in DC. so there at least some history for it. and they might need it again for the future, whenever they invented Hyperdrive.
