Well, take it from a local...
Portland is really cool, wet, and beautiful.. if you stay in the good part of town. The beach is 2 hours and the mountain is 2 hours the other way... at the most. It's freaking awesome. Tillamook is a cool town to visit, but it smells like cow poop ( Cheese Factory)
If you are coming now, State Fair is going on in the capital city, Salem... *where you can view some of my photography, haha*
Kalamath Falls is beautiful, Detroit Lake...
the list goes on
But I can only really tell you about North West Oregon, cuz thats where I reside!

go to www.googlemaps.com and type in a close address and you should see everything near and even a sattilite view if you want one.
