Why not put up some kind of room divider like bookshelves or a curtain and let them decorate one side for a boy's taste and the other in a more girly style? They will need privacy anyway.

First of all depending on the ages of the kids it may or may not be legal to have then sleeping in the same room, I advise that you check the law where you are.
If it turns out that they can sleep in the same room you can do one of two things. Either decorate in bright colours as all kids of both sexes love those. (yellow, blue, green red etc), and make the furniture pine or something else that is neutral. Alternatively you could put up a simple dividing wall that would enable each child to have their room decorated to their individual tastes
