Recently I broke my left ankle during a soccer game. The Doctor said i would be ina cast for 4 weeks and then I would be in physical therapy for another 4 weeks. That means i would miss my soccer season. I was wondering if there are any exercises I can do with my left leg with my cast on so I will be able to lay this season.

Check with your doctor first, but you can do isometrics while in your cast. Contract the muscles around the ankle by pulling your toes and foot up towards your head, then down as if you are pointing your toes, then inward, then outward. Try doing each 10 times for 10 seconds.

Also, you can continue to do non weight bearing knee exercises.
1. leg extensions (seated in your chair, straighten your knee and hold 3 seconds);
2. leg curls (standing on right leg, bend left knee upwards);
3. straight leg raises 4 directions (lay on your back, side, stomach, side and in each position, raise the leg towards the ceiling).

The cast will actually give you a nice amount of resistance with these exercises.
