Is it of a person? Then yes, you do need a release.

You should get a model release from anyone that you take a picture of if you plan to use the photo for any reason outside of personal use. This will protect you if you decide to publish or sell the photo.

I have taken photo/art law at my university and without really going into detail, get a model release whenever you can. If the persons face is clearly visible and recognizable, and especially if the person is a minor get a release.
