I would need to know what you had done all ready to the vehicle.
I do know it was very common for the intake gasket to leak
which as you know would cause your vehicle to run rough.
Also only run Champion truck plugs - these vehicles do not
like NGK's or platinum. For more help check out this website.

there are two transmissions with the old durango's. I don't remember the codes, but the trans associated with the 318 is the problem tranny. As far as the truck concking out, check the plugs. I just had to change mine for the same reason. I have the 5.9 360, with 96,000 miles, the only thing that went was the rear. It's a great truck and dodge is a great product.

We had a 99 Dakota which is basically the same under the hood, if you have a late 90's or early 00's. It never want to take off right and often sounded & felt like it was "puttering" out. We took it to the dealer numerous times w/ no resolve, something was wrong though. We paid up our lease early and ran for GM, we will NEVER own another Chrysler again! I now have had a Yukon Denalli for 2 years and love it! NO PROBLEMS. Don't even want to turn it in next month. Thats what you get when you get a foreign car which is exactly what Chrysler is now. Call a dealer and if no resolve. Ask the dealer for the Chrysler arbatration phone #, they may be able to help. GOOD LUCK!

Shoot by the time my 2000 reached 75k it had 2 transmissions and a brand new crate engine. But after the engine was put in it was nicer than new. Too bad it got such crappy gas mileage or I would have kept it.
