This problem has resulted in the telephone being placed on the base unit after each use, rather than waiting for the signal that the batteries need charging.

You should leave your phone off the charger, until the battery goes dead. After that, it will hold a better charge, for a longer period of time. It's a good idea, to do this once a month, and your battery will last longer. Mine takes about 5 days, until it goes completely dead, then put a real good charge on it, for about 12 hours, and it will last longer. It says this in your book that you received with your phone..

Leave it off the base unit for a few days. It'll die out completely but before it does, it'll start making this beeping noise repeatedly.

Turn the phone on overnight and leave it off the base. It should be discharged by morning.
