Statistics on Alcohol among Teens
-More than 40% of teens who admitted drinking said they drink when they are upset; 31% said they drink alone; 25% said they drink when they are bored; and 25% said they drink to "get high." (U.S. Surgeon General, 1991)
-Approximately 240,000 to 360,000 of the nation's 12 million current undergraduates will ultimately die from alcohol-related causes--more than the number that will get MAs and PhDs combined. (Eigen, 1991 in the 1998 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse)
-Sixty percent of college women diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease were drunk at the time of infection. (Advocacy Institute, 1992)
-Eight young people a day die in alcohol-related crashes. (CSAP, 1996) (Mothers Against Drunk Driving website)
THIS SHOULD NOT BE TRUE, THIS IS WHY THE PERCENT OF OUR GENERATION THAT ARE GOING TO BE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS IS ONLY 4%, WE NEED TO CHANGE THIS, PRAY ABOUT THESE THINGS TIME IN AND TIME OUT!

I do not advocate the over use of alcohol but even that must be better than having ones intellect crushed into the narrow thinking, bigoted ways of the evangelicals.

that's only the alcohol side of things...it is sad.
the laws have taken alot from the parents as far as what we can and cannot do to our children, there is a very fine line between punishment and abuse .
schools have taken the liberty to be both teachers and parents of our children by telling them if your parents slap you call 911, and so on,
parents today are still to young to be parents hence 'kids having kids'.
then the dead beat parents who just are not there for their children.
i am sick to my stomach by all of it.
and i am glad that some people do care about the issues. thank you for caring enough to put it in form.

Alcoholism is bad, but I wouldn't suggest evangelism as the cure.

Speaking to teens and teaching them about alcohol would help.....praying for them is not going to.

I agree. Praying over it and expecting God to fix this problem is insane. Not to mention passive.
