simple carbohydrates are broken down into sugar far more quickly then those made of complex carbohydrates.

simple carbs would be fruit, candy, ice cream

complex carbs would be whole wheat bread, wild rice.

Simple carbs come from sugar. And fruit/berries. Complex carbs come from vegetables, and flour. (Meat contains mostly protein and fat)
