Subwoofers?

I'm looking for any good subwoofers? any one have anything good out there?

Image Dynamics. The most unheard of brand around here but were completely awesome.

Just remember, a lot of people like what a lot of people already have. Around here there is Audiobahn stickers on so many cars and most of the things you can buy at BestBuy/Circuit City a lot of people are going to have.

Price is another thing. I would have to say, if you are serious about putting a system together don't just look for a good sub. If you get a great 1000W sub, and a Legacy 1000W amp, it sounds like it would work right, but Legacy(among others) is known for being underpowered. There is no reason to blow a good sub, because it is underpowered.

I would suggest going to a local audio shop(not Best Buy) and looking at what they have to offer. A lot of places will actually be, for the most part, honest and tell you what will sound good and what won't. Try and put together an all around good system. The head unit, subs, amp, enclosure. Don't forget about wiring either. A big loss of power and sound is when the wiring is too long or too small for what you have.

Once upon a time is absolutely right. Image Dynamics makes excellent subs. The IDMAX is one of the best subs you can buy (but they're on backorder for like the next 4 months). You find that the best subwoofers are often made by the smaller, lesser known brands that are dedicated to making a small line of excellent products, rather than large companies who spend tons of money on marketing/advertising and pumping out the largest quantity of products possible.

Not to mention that because of less overhead, they usually cost less. Some other little-known brands that make excellent subs are:

Elemental Designs
Soundsplinter
Re Audio
Audioque
Ascendant Audio

These subs are all pretty much better than most mainstream sub you'll find on the market today (of course, this is subjective). Either way, they're really worth looking into.

yeah try elemental designs good sub for the prices
or MA audio they bump pretty hard also i had a image dynamics 8 inch that pounded harder than my 2 10's but really its not the brand of sub its the size,power rating (RMS) and the box u put it in

kickers are great... theres a lot out there... if you are looking to hear it first... check out best buy... but try to look for an import store of sorts... they normally know a lot more than best buy staff... if you are going by what the packaging says about it... check out cardomain.com they normally have some bass packages... amp and subs, sometimes with a box too... but i have found them to be priced well and help a lot...

Derekdmeter basically broke it down for you but they typically cost more but they take way more abuse and last a bit longer if treated right. If those are out of your price range I would go with Audiobahn(best bang for buck) Kicker(decent if you get L7s but i beat em with my audiobahns all day) JL(very good but WAY overpriced...did i mention WAY OVERPRICED????) and Eclispe
