Most airports limit total checked bags at 100 lbs for short trips and 200lbs for internation or long trips over two weeks.

You can check your airlines website for specific information on allowed weight for cheked luggage as they do vary slightly from airline to airline.

That varies from one airline to the next, as well as the class of your seat (first class gets more for their money) and often the distance of the flight. Trans oceanic flights often allow more weight than short-haul flights.

The discount European airlines such as EasyJet or RyanAir allow as little as one 33 lb bag. Their excess weight charges can be well more than the cost of your ticket! I paid 45 Euros for a flight from Spain to the UK and another 84 Euros for excess baggage weight!

It's usually about 50 pounds for checked baggage. The carry-on limit is by size, not weight.

For checked bags, it depends on the airline. Most are 50lbs. For carry on, it all about size. Must fit in overhead or under the seat.
