It could be old age, illness, ate something he shouldn't have. You really need to get the cat to the vet for a checkup asap!

I would like to state for all you guys, thirteen is not old for a cat. My 22 yr old cat eats just fine.
Old age is not a disease and there are things that could be going on with your cat. He must not go longer than 36 hours without any food. Tomorrow is your last day to see a regular vet (possibly for a short time on Sat. morning) so rather than waiting for a crisis over the weekend it would be best to get your cat in for a check in the next two days.

Any sudden changes in eating habits should be checked out by the vet ASAP. It could be any number of things from he doesn't like the food you are buying to minor illnesses to major illnesses. Only a vet can tell you. Hope all goes well...

Even if you gave us more information, like if he hasn't eaten at all, the length of time it has been.. it would still be too difficult to get a proper answer from this forum. I agree with the first poster, take him to the vet and get him checked out. He should have regular check ups anyhow - at least once a year.

That could be a symptom of any of a whole variety of illnesses. Take him to the vet tomorrow. I assume if you're worried he's also sort of acting generally sick. If he's acting really alarmingly sick, take him to the emergency vet IMMEDIATELY. Also if he's trying to urinate and can't, then take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY, because a urinary blockage in male cats can lead very quickly to kidney problems that can even be fatal.

That is pretty old for a cat. I know as people age they tend not to eat as much cause the food doesn't taste as good. You might try to get him a new flavor of food or treat.

When people quit eating that means that their body is shutting down. This could be the case with your 13 yr. old cat, he is coming to his last days. Just love him and just reassure him, hold him, he is telling you to let him go.
