If God is a holy, all-knowing, and omnipotent entity, then there's no doubt he would have known Adam would eat the forbidden fruit. He also created the serpent (satan) to tempt Adam. So humankind's torment was inevitable. If God is an all-good and holy power, then why would he create such evil unless he himself has an evil side. It doesn't sound like man created original sin, God did. (I'm a Christian by the way)

There are many definitions of 'GOD'. Some Gods are good, some are evil, some a mixture.

I can perfectly read you. and your question. Now, if you are thinking this way its because you do believed in something superior than you, as well than sublime. perhaps, also divine as well, than Omnipotent. you are using your own intelligence, and you should use it until it hurts. Why?, Simply because while you get a headache we loss control of our though. you are free to analyze, and make your own conclusions, base in which you are right because to combat Evil, without spelling unnecessary hatred into the material World, God will fight Evil with Evil, though that is his priority to care for his creation, life and the Universe. it's a good thing to remember that : "Life is God business" don't you think?, and we are here to do and accomplish the best we can to grow, learn, achieved and accomplish, "his desires for man to become" and multiply? Man can multiply God gift of Intelligence to man, only by thinking, fixing and correcting our though, and more thinking? Just don't get cough by Evil, and although evil its just a force....., in which case if Satan push to much God will use such force, and he will not be necessary evil HIM(God), self. ? You know what I mean? and then is also correct to say, No, HIM(God), isn't Evil!

In Genesis and Exodus (just for starters), god is described as:

Extremely Violent and Cruel
Jealous
Murderous
Impetuous
Peevish
Possessive
Threatening
Irrational
Misogynistic
Irresponsible

And he's constantly surprised by the actions of Humans. How can he be all knowing, be surprised by anything we do, and get angry (a human emotion) when we're simply "following the plan" that he laid down in the first place!

These are all _human_ traits! Christian apologists like to claim that "god is so far above humans, that we could never understand his motives."... Uh, I thought reading the bible was supposed to clear that up?

What this boils down to is that god was really created by men, and the bible authored by men, not the other way around.

This is a problem with Christianity, not Judaism; Judaism created the "Satan" concept and did a better job of it. In Judaism Satan is an angel who does God's bidding and, though annoying, is on man's side.

Well, im an Atheist, but i have studied ideas of God in Philosophy.

My belief is, if God is going to be perfect, he must be both Good and Evil in equal proportions. God cannot be all-good and all-loving, because that limits the 'Omnipotent' argument.

Its a theological catch-22

first of all it was eve that first partook in the fruit and then introduced it to Adam but any way god did not know that eve was going to partake in the fruit,it was a test of their faith and second of all god created Satan true BUT 1.god did not know that this angel (Satan) would betray him2. he did not send the newly named Satan to deceive eve it was Satan's own selfish plot to try and mislead them.Satan was finding followers so he could rule this wicked world. in fact the bible says "he was misleading all The nations"( i think) AND in th bible it refers to god as the god of love.and in another part it says that god IS love.so take a look at that tell me hes evil!

First of all God did create satan, who by the way was one of the most beautiful angel, until iniquity was found in him. He wanted to rule and rebelled against God, so he was kicked out of heaven to tempt Adam and Eve. As satan is the personified being of all that is evil. Adam and Eve listened to Satan's lies, and ate. God gave mankind free will to listen and obey or to listen to satan's lies. So Adam and eve fell from grace, sin had now come between God and man. Its only be sending Christ to make atonement for sins, that we once again can commune with God through Christ Jesus Our Lord and Saviour, who sits on the right hand of God to make intercession for us.

God created choice and He was even good enough to warn about the tree (the one and only warning in the garden and about that particular choice) BEFORE they ate. He forewarned the consequences and they still chose to disobey...do not blame Gods justice as evil

Luke 9:23 - Jesus says we must take up this cross daily. He requires us to join our daily temporal sacrifices (pain, inconvenience, worry) with His eternal sacrifice.

Phil. 1:29 - for the sake of Christ we are not only to believe in Him but also to suffer for His sake. Growing in holiness requires more than having faith in God and accepting Jesus as personal Lord and Savior. We must also willfully embrace the suffering that befalls us as part of God's plan. Thus, Christ does not want our faith alone, but our faith in action which includes faith in suffering.

Col. 1:24 - Paul rejoices in his sufferings and completes what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of His body. This proves the Catholic position regarding the efficacy of suffering. Is there something lacking in Christ's sufferings? Of course not. But because Jesus loves us so much, He allows us to participate in His redemptive suffering by leaving room in His mystical body for our own suffering. Our suffering, united with our Lord's suffering, furthers the work of His redemption.
