Hi, the new international airport, Suvarnabumi International Airport, is slated to be opened on 28 Sep, so your travel is likely to be in this new place. This new airport is designed to be friendly to special-needs people, a much bigger, more roomy and ease of access. I believe you need not worry too much about the airport, but as in every new airport that had been opening the past years, your possible luggage glitch will be your main concern! Just need to be wary of this and be ready in case your luggages get misplaced. This may not happen too, just a caution.
As for your mum's medical, are you in touch with the hospital that your mum is going to? Can you contact them and have them help to arrange a wheelchair for you? I am sure that the service standard in Thailand is pretty good, some arrangement can be made for your mum's special travel need directly with them. And is your mum's accommodation arranged by the hospital too?
If not, you can bring her wheelchair, have it checked in as a luggage when you are checking in. The airport staff can provide you with a wheelchair and even help with the boarding procedure if need be. Contact your airline you are travelling for this assistance. They are able to help you with this easily.
Likewise, you can ask them to contact ahead for a wheelchair to be ready at the gate for your mum until you retrieve your own wheelchair from the luggage trolley. The airport staff will be able to help you through till you get your mum on your wheelchair.
I had done this for my mum's travel, and had observed the services while in Thailand. So, you need not worry too much. Just make arrangements with the airline staff and with the airport staff before checking in and when checking in, just to double check that the arrangement had been made for you.
Happy travel. You can email me if you need any query while in Bangkok to be answered. I will be glad to help. Regards.

Many flights arrive after 11 pm the following, so not something to rigidity about. The rail link to the airport isn't open yet, it became plan to open in April, yet there has been a present day comments that it may not open to August, so who's conscious of, attempt to maintain up therefore far formerly you arrive. As of now brilliant is taxi that element of nighttime. Take a meter taxi from the airport do not settle for rides from human beings contained in the airport you'd be overcharge, in ordinary words take a meter taxi. Your taxi could value no more effective than three hundred to 350 baht in accordance to the position in Bangkok you're going, plus tolls of about 70 baht and also you pay a airport fee of an additiona 50 baht to the motive force. recommend you get some sleep and be waiting for an afternoon of traveling. you could set up excursions from the inn the front table to the grand palace or certain it really is danger-free to flow to Chinatown and save on the community markets or Gold shops. good success and use problem-free experience and think ofyou've got an excellent time

A brand new Airport is about to open in BKK. It will be state of the art and very accomadating for people with special needs. It also will be very beautiful. I think you will find it a welcome change from the old airport. It is my understanding that wheelchairs will be avaailable like in most airports for passengers to use at the airport. Also, if you inform the airline you are using they will provide a wheelchair and help you all the way to the taxi. All in all it should be a much more pleasant experience. Good Luck.

not sure if you can take a wheelchair with you due to storage on the plane. i would say buy a wheelchair in thailand and give it away to a person that needs it when you leave. im sure they would be grateful to get a wheelchair to help a family member to get around. have fun in thailand and good luck.

Thailand do have really cheap stuff...i never had to buy a wheelchair, but i'm pretty sure they can find you one. But it might be more convienient bringing your own instead of searching around for one. It'll cause unneccessary stress for your mother.
