You can simply multiply the tax (plus 100) to the amount. For examply, if the tax is 7% add 100 to that to get 1.07. Multiply this to the amount (say the amount is ten dollrs) and you will get $10.70. That is the amount with the tax added into it.

Well, if it does nothing, at least it's harmless. You can click on it as much as you want, without any danger of destroying anything.
If you want to calculate tax, it's not so hard you need a specific button for it anyway.

it depends on the sales tax in your state, for example. If you live in Michigan.... the sales tax is 6% or in the calculator 0.06.
So if the item you want to buy is &3.99 plus tax.
In your calculator take 3.99 times it (by the sales tax, in this case) 0.06 witch gives you 0.2394, then take that number and add it by 3.99, witch gives you a grand total of $4.23

type the tax rate then hit tax+
it works like M+
there is probably another button labeled Rate to bring the tax amount back up
