If you can handle spicy food you can get rid of it overnight. Eat something so hot (like pizza with plenty of crushed red pepper, authentic thai or indian food, etc.) that you'll wake up during the night and have to run to the bathroom. The cold virus can't handle spicy food, and you will kill it tonight. Unfortunately, this won't work with the flu.

If you can't handle spicy food go with nyquil or an equivalent and hope for the best.

You cannot get rid of a cold once youve got it. You can depress it with medication but it will have to take it's course, a cold takes 3 days coming,3 days here, and 3 days going. about 9/10 days. Flu will take 3 weeks to go and even then will hang on for weeks sometimes with congestion on the chest.
Your doctor will tell you what to take.

there's no cure for the cold. Zicam could work, but usually only if you start it right away, at the first sign of symptoms. what you can take to treat the symptoms depends on what your symptoms are. keep in mind, these are ingredients and you will need to go to the store to find out which OTC drugs have these ingredients. If you have a cough... dextromethorphan will supress your cough. If your cough has phlegm.. guafenisen will cause you to cough up all the mucus that is in your lungs and relieve congestion. If you have sinus problems.. pseudoephedrine will clear up congestion. normal saline nasal spray can keep your nasal passages moist. If you have fever or aches.. you can take acetaminophen or ibuprofen. If you have a runny nose, you can take benadryl... it will dry up your sinuses and decrease post nasal drip. If you have allergy related symptoms (sneezing, watery eyes, etc) you can take benadryl or loratadine. Please be careful as some of these drugs (especially benadryl) can cause drowsiness. THere are many combination products out there. just choose the ones that fit your symptoms.

Just give it to someone else. No seriously the best medicine might just be drink lots of fluids including chicken soup, get lots of rest in the form of sleep, stay away from others, and go to the drug store and buy some Cold FX. If you start tonight you might just make it.
