My mom chopped the pills in half... if that could be done and we either put them im apple sauce or pudding. After we could swallow that she taught us how to put it on the right spot on your tounge and just swallow it.

Ok, this is retarded: "buy a pill crusher (search it on google) and put the powder in a glass of water or soda or something." Eew! you wouldn't drink chemical water, so you certainly wouldn't make your child drink it!
I was the same way when I was a kid. My parents would crush it in either a PB&J or applesauce. As I got older, I taught myself actually out of embarassment, and practiced on birth control (not advised, just because it was small). After I learned how to swallow small pills the larger ones became that much easier. Although, I still have an issue with real large ones.
Good luck!

I had the same problem till I was almost 18 and what my parents did and what I did once I got on my own was break the pill up till its in 3 or 4 small pieces then tell her to put a little water in her mouth then the pill and then put more water in her mouth and drink it down. It helped me. I'm not almost 21 and can take pills in one piece. Still gag sometimes though. GOOD LUCK!

There isn't a way to stop that. I was the same way. When I was younger I was scared that the pill would go down the wrong pipe or something. I still can't shallow pills. Its not that I'm scared but I just can't seem to. I had a bad toothache a few months back and that was only my second time shallowing a pill. It was very small tho. Don't crush it up. For one its tastes nasty. I heard it was dangerous but I can't say thats true. And the pill wouldn't be as strong once it gets in her stomach. Just give her time.

Well, when I was a kid and didn't swallow pills, my mom would crush it up and put it in a spoonfull of water. I did this for a long time, and let me tell you, it was NASTY, and then I finally asked her why she did that way. Her response was, "when you learn to swallow the pill, you won't have to take it like that anymore." I eventually just learned.
Of course, my mom didn't have any of this business of me not taking medicine because it tasted bad, and I wouldn't have dreamed of telling her no on that. I just had to suck it up and take it.

"Retarded"? "chemical water"? it's not like she's mixing bleach into a glass for crying out loud! It's just a gnarly slury of MEDICINE. Tasty? H3lls no! But does it work? You betcha.

I feel for her! I was the same way until I was in high school.
When I finally learned to swallow a pill I would get a drink and then tip my head straight back and drop the thing in there as far back as I could get it and follow that with a quick drink.
Good luck.....I hope she can figure out what works for her.

I've done this before. Try this, my parents told me to put a little water in my mouth, about enough to be half full.
Then place the pill in and quickly fill your mouth with water, place your head in a 45 degree andgle and swallow.
The pill should slide right in

Try having her swallow small pieces of candy first. I had to start learning how to swallow pills when I was 11, and that's how I started.

A lot of kids find it difficult to swallow tablets, even some adults. you could try getting her to swallow something else with the tablet, like a piece of soft fruit, banana, watermelon...something that will go down easy. The other alternative might be to crush it up first and get her to wash it down really quickly with some orange juice or milk.

hi
i know you might not want information from a 14 year old mom but i read some books and maybe if you try crushing it up and putting Little water with it she can take it like a liquid form.or if not that then tell her to put it towards the back of her tongue and get something to drink to get it to go down faster.or cut it in half and have her take half of it first the the other half second.
