Dear compassionate Apostate, the idea is ludicrous. May your daft soul be blessed.

This is an excellent ethical question.
I would say no. I'm an organ donor, but I made that choice for myself as a matter of conscience and a reflection of my personal values. I would never try to force anyone else to make that decision, though I do encourage people to become donors.
The state has the right to punish citizens for their unlawful acts, but it does not own them. They are still persons and retain many human rights.

I think if the person is on death row then yes. I know we should have the choice to donate or not but when it comes down to it, many people are in need of organs so why destroy an organ that could save a life? I'm not saying that b'cause I'm an organ donor either.

Why should that be mandatory for them? After death we are all the same... Dead.. Why don't they deserve the same respect in death? They should be left to rest in peace like the rest of us... In that case, should every person who dies in life be a mandatory organ donor?

since they are wards of the state, so to speak, then the state should be able to make that decision, after all, the state has been footin the bill for all their expenses for the time they were in prison. so yes, i think organ donation should be mandatory.

it all depends if they are death row. I know that some of the organs are not worth the risk of harvesting . (drug users, aids etc etc)
I feel it should be an automatic choice when sentence, the Judge would ask organ donor yes or no. It will be the prionser's last free chioce to make.

No, organ donation is against some religions. You don't lose all rights when you go to prison. You still get the right to your religion for instance.

I am an organ donor, but I think that it should be the choice of the owner of the organs to decide. Regardless if he is incarcerated or not.

If the corpse has healthy organs, and the friends and family of the corpse don't mind, I say go ahead.

NO!
That would motivate society to keep people in prison so we would have a supply of organs. That would subvert people's belief (if they had it) that the justice system was actually just.
