You vote republican and support this man who made sure he never saw any combat when he was in the military and then when you keep getting called up to back to Iraq 2,3, or more times, you complain about going. None of you were drafted, this is an all volunteer military and I always see you people stomping and cheering for George Bush whenever he is speaking to the military. This is exactly what you voted for. The continuation of the war and the support of George W. Bush's policies on the war. Then when you are asked to keep doing your job, which is to protect the United States, you complain. Why do you keep supporting this guy. I do see that most Iraqi veterans that run for political office are running as Democrats. Why's that? Do the people in the military get smarter after they get out. By the way I am a Viet Nam veteran that served with the First Cavalry Division in Viet Nam, under the command of George Casey, the father of your present commander in Iraq, George Casey, Jr.

Well first, you have to realize that Y! Anwers has alot of fakes and liars. There's people everyday that answer questions about the military and they've never been in or near the military. I don't know if it makes them feel powerful or what. It was once asked why non-military answer and they said because they have a right to their opinion. The thing is, Y! Anwers isn't about opinions in that sense. It's a question and answer area. Where people with real questions need real answers. However, it's nothing like that.

Second, we ARE military and do support Bush. My hubby has been to the sandbox 3 times. Not all under this Bush. We supported it the first time and we support it this time. You'll just find that it's not "proper" to be a Bush supporter. It sucks serving under a President like Clinton. Talk about not caring about the troops. The American public doesn't see this though. They don't even try to get to know us or how we live or think. In fact, watch this section long enough and you'll find that most think we're brainwashed. Only the military knows what good is happening in Iraq. They know they're cheered on the streets and people ask them for help. No, not all military are happy. That's the choice they made when they signed up though. Look how our news displays this war. Do you ever see the good?? NO, you hear about the casualty list and how "strong" the insurgents are. I can't even tell you the last time the news portrayed something positive coming out of Iraq. They'd rather focus on some Marines that are SUSPECTED of raping women. They don't tell both sides of the story and the convict the poor soldier before he even stands trial.

You 'll never see this military family complain about the job they're asked to do. Sometimes it saddens me though that my husband protects their right to spew such idiotic comments on here with no facts or basis to back them up. We've endured much and before retirement, we'll surely endure more. You'll also never see us vote by party. We vote for the right candidate, whoever that may be from which ever party. The right candidate has a platform of what's best for America and the people in America. And I will say, a man that turned his back on the WTC the first time, as well as other actions and openly had affairs in the White House and is married to a criminal, isn't the right choice.

I'm sure NOT every person in the Military voted for Bush! And I'm certain there are Democrats that serve in the
Armed Forces.
I don't think we hardly ever hear any Military person complaining about being in Iraq, regardless of who they voted for! It seems like most of the postings on here that come from Military people trying to get out of the Armed Forces or yelling about Iraq, are ones that haven't been in very long and seem to feel Military life isn't for them.

I think you are deluding yourself. I was in the military. People in the military complained about everything, all the time. They complained when we got a pay raise because it was not enough. No one wants to go to war. There are, however, volunteers who stay when their tours are up and others volunteer to go back. How many of these fine people are running to Canada or Mexico to avoid going over seas? Only a rare few.
As for people running for office, I have seen three liberals. One from Ohio has already been defeated in two elections. Two others are still campaigning for November. The woman pilot who lost her legs is in the bluest part of Illinois, in the Chicago area. The liberals get favorable media coverage from the already-biased left wing main stream media.
People in the military support the President because he is doing the right thing. They believe in what they are fighting for. They understand that they get paid to kill people and break things, knowing that they may be killed as well. Many of these conservative leaders stay in the military becasue they believe in this country and believe what they are doing is right. The people who stay in the military cannot run for political office. No one votes for continuation of a war. A vote for President Bush meant that the voter agreed with him and his policies. The military want a military victory in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The vast majority in the military do not have the liberal democrat "cut and run" mentality. That is, they are not chicken!

generalize much, do we? I was in the military up till two years ago, and I never supported or liked the president nor voted for him, and said as much whenever the subject came up. I was still nearly stop lossed and sent to Iraq twice. Yet when I joined it wasn't even certain whether Bush or Gore won the first election, much less that I had any idea we would be invading Iraq for no plausible reason.

I think the people that are complaining about going are mostly those who didn't support the war, but even for the people who do support the president, the huge amount of time spent in Iraq with multiple deployments starts to wear thin, especially after frequent stoplosses and recalls and extensions overseas.

I think it is still possible to support being over there and not how the war is being fought. Personally I support neither, but it is understandable to me how one can agree with the policy decision but not in how it's been carried out.

First, you are grouping all military in one basket. Second, you really don't know.

We support our commander in chief unlike a lot of civilians. Just because we vent our dislike of going to Iraq, does not mean we don't do our jobs. Several people, to include you, gripe and complain about the President, the military and the country and then fully expect a Soldier no to vent his frustrations ever? Get real. We have more right to ***** than any civilian about anything we want. You continue to throw out your unwanted rhetorics, I'll continue to defend your right to.

It's odd that you've observed this because I've observed just the opposite. I have seen damn little complaining from this military. These people quietly go and do their jobs regardless of their personal political philosophy...too bad more civilians can't do the same. If you are puzzled because so many of our armed forces members do support the president, maybe it's because they know something you don't. As for why so many vets running for office seem to be democrats, look at history. There are a number of better known politicians who arguably joined the military with political ambitions. To many it is a springboard...just another line on their resume neatly designed to tell the right story. I don't need to mention names.
BTW welcome home.

The vast majority of military personnel do not complain about going to war. And for the record, I know lots of military people who did not vote for Bush.

I'm in the military, 19 years, 3 months 18 days, voted for Bush twice, been to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once.

All I ever complain about is whiny *** liberals who know absolutely nothing about securing a nation tell me how horrible, George Bush, this country, and my service is.

You, as a vet, of all people should know better than to post crap like this.

My suggestion is, that if you don't like it.... leave.

Who's complaining? My niece volunteered for Iraq. She says there are great bonuses. The democrat party is wide open. There is no direction, no plan, not even the beginning of one. Are they Michael Moore or Joe Lieberman? They don't have a clue who they are any more. If military veterans can help bring the democrat party out of its communistic socialist free fall, then more power to them.
I don't know where you are hearing your complaints from, but not from any of my Friends or family that are currently serving.
