I'll be able to vote in a few years and look forward to making a difference but has the Royal Mail got it's act together yet because when my Dad went down to vote last time, the whole block had already voted by post.

Black Sabbath: Absentee voting rules vary by state in the US. There are a number of reasons other than those you listed to vote absentee. As of 2006, Ohio allows absentee voting for any reason.

you have to sign up for postal voting.you should recieve a letter asking you if you want to vote by post when elections are imminent. send it back and there-after you get a postal vote for all elections

In the US they only let us do that if you are a soldier based in a different nation, a elderly person who has trouble leaving the home, or other such circumstances.
