This is a tough situation. I feel bad for you. Inevitably you telling him that you aren't interested is like telling him that he's not good enough for you... which is probably true, but we need to tell him something to disguise this reality. If you don't think you are going to go, tell him you really don't think you are going to go. If you want to go, but not with him, you need to give him the lets just be friends talk. Good luck - you girls have it hard. All I had to worry about was being told no.

Just tell him no and be honest with him and he will understand if he is a true friend, tell him that you don't want him to get the wrong ideas a you don't want to lead him on! True friends will understand! Good Luck and have a Great Homecoming

If he's told you straight out or made it known to you that he likes you then be honest and tell him you care for him as a friend but that you don't want to go because you don't want to lead him on. Just be honest about it and be careful how you say it so as not to hurt him too much.

Unfortunately, he is going to be hopeful for the rest of your (and his) "friendship." If you are just beginning to notice that he is starting to like you...there is a high probability that he has "liked" you since you've started this "friendship."
In short, you are not leading him on. Unfortunately for you, he has already "fallen" for you...and has already "changed" the relationship. It's what happens with us guys that really like good looking girls. We're shallow and hopeless due to our very powerful and dominant genes and hormones (that took billions of years to successfully encode). Remember that. I AM right. You will find out...sooner...or probably later. Have a nice day! :()

Tell him you don't think it's a good idea to start dating as it would put your friendship in jeopardy.
