I don't have to give a wedding toast, do I?

I'm standing in a friends wedding as a groomsman in a few weeks. It's only the Best Man that's required to give a toast, right?

Most of the time, yes; however, some couples have a brief toast from everyone in, or a couple people in, their wedding party. It's not uncommon for more than a couple people to do a toast or say a few words.

Ask the groom. Weddings are what the bride & groom make of it. If your friend wants 100% traditional, then you better starting thinking something up. But he may surprise you and say don't worry about it. Anyone can toast-the father of the bride or groom, maid/matron of honor, the groom or bride might even want to toast the guests and thank them for coming. Find out before you panic. if you are only a groomsman then it is optional for you. The best man is required to make his speech and toast.

Personally I think that both of you can do it. because even i wouldnt mind if i was the bride or groom if both of the groomsman and best man say something about the new married couple. but Im just saying. Thanks for asking my opinion.

this is correct. The best man gives does the toast but you are more than welcome to do so but only after the best man has his say.
