there is no pain free method. you are poking a hole through your ear. you just have to numb the ears as best as possible. i would use an ice pack on the ears for a few minutes. then push a needle or stud that has either been boiled or heated by fire through your ear in the desired spot. afterwards dab with some hydrogen peroxide to clean

Um well some people do it themsleves with the apple, the ice, and the needle but you said you didnt want to be to dangerous..You can go to professionals and ask them about it. Or you can look it up on the internet!
And about the studs you can get small hoops instead of studs. If you wanna be more stylish!!
And about the pain there is this thing called a chicken patch (it has nothing to do with chicken's) And you put it on about a half an hour before you get it peirced. Then you wont feel much. It really works!
Good Luck!!!

so to everyone who is recomending going and getting it done somewhere with a piercing gun, I say to you do your research, piercing guns can not be properly sterilized as they are plastic and can not be autoclaved. Rubbing Alcohol does not sterilize!
Anyway onto the question at hand, what you want to do is go to a professional Body Piercer, ask tons of questions ask what type of sterilization they use (autoclave), ask what kind of jewelry they recomend (should be 316 LVM Surgical stainless steel, titaniam, or other implant grade material). Ask to see the piercers portfolio so you can see what kind of work they have done.
Any good piercer will have no problem answering your questions. Yes this will require you to go to a tattoo & piercing shop where they pierce with pre-sterilized hollow needles, which is less painful then gun piercing as it is sharper and faster and more precise. The amount of pain is minimal and shouldn't really be the concern here. If you want to know more of why piercing guns are bad then go to yahoo and search "the dangers of piercing guns".

I don't know what you mean by natural and healthy. Places like Claire's use sterile instruments and have a good selection of little studs you can pick, which are sealed in sterile packaging, that seems pretty "healthy" to me. Any place you go to is going to be similar. I don't know of any way that would be "natural" unless you go pluck a quill from a porcupine and stick through your ear lobe or something. I know Dr.'s used to pierce ears but I'm not sure if they do anymore. When I was 6 my home-town Dr. pierced my ears.

You need to keep the earrings in for a few weeks. The earrings need to be medicated and turned. This is done so that the hole in your ear will heal properly.
Most places are fairly pain-free. You have to expect a certain amount of pain or discomfort afterwards because you are putting a hole in your ear. However, it's really not so bad.

cleaning the ears by washing them with soap and water. dry them. apply a product with lidocaine to the ears, such as Bikini Zone Gel, which is basically a lidocaine gel meant to get rid of shave bumps by numbing the skin.
then get a friend to pierce them using a big sharp sewing needle, then immediately put in the earrings you want. as long as you immediately put an earring in after you've taken an earring out, the holes will not grow back in.

I know you don't want to hear it, but the best thing to do is go where they have one of those ear-piercing guns. The nautral way at home with a needle and an ice cube is too brutal. The guns are quick and sanitary and all you feel is one quick little zing.

Some tattoo shops do ear piercings as well, but if you are not comfortable with Claire's, you are probably not comfortable going to a tattoo shop either.

I completely understand how you feel. Going to a public place where tons of other people got theirs done with the same gun is totally disgusting!I suggest buying your own do it yourself peircing kit.
