probably due to the rise in petrol..it costs more for transport companies to move there goods now..

Its called Economies Of Scale.
The more a company orders, the more discount they get.
A small store buys a little at a time and so pays full price, however, superstores buy in massive bulk orders and so get discounts.
Plus, a dealer will give discounts to companies that order more simply because they rely on them to keep up their massive orders in order to survive.
petrol will maybe make a very small difference, but not a noticable one
