Where have you been? This is something we need not be thinking on anymore, especially with your "wise" point of view. Get at least one thing clear....black slaves were not immigrants, they were imprisoned and forced to leave their homeland. Another thing to get clear...the "USA" was established after the Indian Wars. Europeans CONQURED this land, they did not migrate here. The only immigrants to America came after the USA was established. The USA is an established government and way of life that just happened through lots of blood shed to set up camp on this soil, it's called conquering. The Indians as you call us...we never owned any of this land. Implying that we did is an insult to our culture; for our beliefs say that NO man owns Earth Mother, not even a piece of Her. I am so tired of hearing the "Indian" brought into this debate. It's weak and not many truly understand the "Indian" people. You see most of us still believe that NO part of Earth Mother can be or is owned by anybody. What most of us do understand, and too many Americans do not is that.....America, the "USA" is not property. We understand that America is a way of life, a principal, a belief system, a structured and organized way of living in peace, (not so unlike Indians in the innocence of Her). Too, too many people have forgotten what "America" really is. Redskinned people were conquered and they assimilated, still struggling to do so, however, it was never an issue of LAND to any of us, it was an issue of "a way of life". Europeans could have come here freely and lived their own way of life and left the "Indians" alone to do the same and there would never have been as much blood shed. Unfortunately it didn not happen that way....OK so what....it's history now. American Indians/Native Americans/Indians, whatever you call us...we have a firmer and more CLEAR understanding of what America is, and America has our respect. America forced us to assimilate and we did with courage and pride and honor, as should be when a tribe is conquered. We assimilated with grace yet we still hold strong in our belief that Earth Mother belongs to no body. Can "We the People" try to understand that America is not a piece of property? She is sooooo much more than that! America is a WAY OF LIFE!!!!

You do make a point, but only so far. Would the Native Americans be illegal immigrants, taking it over. They were not the first ones here. Nor were the ones before them.

And eventually, you can break this down to say that humans are animals. Which animals did the human animal steal the land from?

I guess you'd have to look at this and decide from what point was a government established. And, were the native americans melded? Yes, they were. And they were paid for some land as well. And some tribes are still considered a soverein nation.

The government allows a specific number of immigrants to legally come each year. And none of them jump of fence or cross a river swimming.

You are right in what you are saying. But because these so called Americans want to believe there better than anyone else. They now want to say the Indians are also immigrants .Some people are such fools. The land did belong to the Indians. So all you people living here to day are really illegal immigrants any way you want to look at it.
So all you so called American people that don't want legal or illegal immigrants here. Please go back to the countries you ancestors came from

Unfortunately if you studied your history properly it was called "the slave trade" for a reason. The various tribe leaders SOLD THEIR PEOPLE to the white man. Sorry, but "back then" it is just how things were...slavery was common between ALL RACES. Believe it or not Africans in Africa had slaves as well. With this in mind...none of my ancestors were slave owners. Neither am I.

As far as the Indians are concerned...were they dooped, were they not? I don't know. But now, in 2006, the United States is an established country. We are no longer the "melting pot" we used to be when Ellis Island and Immigration meant the same thing.

Unfortunately this is not a case of living in peace, love and happiness...it is about government, economy and quality of life-not only for immigrants but the already established country as well.

Oh I remember what I forgot to do today... I forgot to steal more from the Indians. Oh wait... that happened over 100 years before I was born!! Yep... just wanted to make sure!

I love how every other country in the world has a "clean" history except ours (rolling eyes)

we colonized this country first. immigration laws came second. now even if we did "steal" it, that happened so long ago it doesn't matter. that would be like putting all mexicans on trial for their ancestors commiting human sacrafices, or certain indian tribes for cannabilism. during that period of time every single culture was out to spread their influence and territories. and that all happened under british, spanish, french and mexican rule not american. think about it

Yeah I agree with you to a point but in this country if you cheat and get away with it you win. We stoled it alright but we got away with it so we win. The American way.

I like your ideas. It is a fact. No one really BELONGS here except the American Indians.

Good point.

The most zealous anti-immigrants are some yellow chinamen who came in this country like 5 years ago and now they think they are Americans.
