have the same problem these days.i met the most amazing guy who's from the same nationality as i am & the same intersts as i have(i went to a new school)but he has a gf(frm abt 10 months, not more than a year definitely).she was the first girl i was introduced to & she's kind of my friend now.she's a really wonderful person & i really don't want to get between her & this guy.
but sometimes i find him staring my way or looking at me while laughing .the problem is he's a really nice guy so it's pretty hard to distinguish if he's just being nice to me(the new kid)or flirting with me.
but,in my guess you should stay friends with him without flirting with him or anything.he would admire your sel-control much more & who knows, maybe he'll find out that your the girl who should really be his gf.don't be mean to his gf.just be nice & there will be no hard feelings, try to put yourself in his shoes.you would think that someone who's flirting with you,all the while knowing that you have a gf/bf,is just cheap or shallow.try to get him to like you.share your interests but don't talk continuously with him when you get him alone.try to act mysterious.make him want to come & talk to you.(i talk to this guy only once or twice on most days)let him ask questions & don't be afraid to ask questions from him too.he'll feel flattered.smile with him when you meet him & be nice, but don't let on that your interested in him.
good luck & have fun!

Leave him alone..... I found myself in the same situation. It ended in heartbreak. I told him how I felt and he said he felt the same way and we started going out..... he promised he would leave his girlfriend for me.... after about a year of waiting he finally left her because she cheated.... following that he met another girl and the cycle started again this time with me being the girlfriend this time.
Think about this if he leaves his girlfriend for you why won't he leave you for the next girl that comes along.
You would be starting a relationship built on betrayal and it will only continue...... Stay away from him until he becomes available and save yourself future heartbreak
