Typically, peke puppies have a pretty fluffy coat when puppies...a ball of fur. As they put on adult hair, it becomes much thinner, much longer, and more coarse. White pekes often retain the really fluffy heavy short coats, red pekes tend to have thinner hair which is very long, and other colors tend to be somewhere inbetween. IF the coat is really dry, put on teaspoon of olive or corn oil on food per day...will help. Good luck

Try changing foods.
Nutro is a great brand for coat quality.
IF she is missing hair, itching or seems distressed, please take her to the vet.
If she is experiencing hair loss on the face and under belly have her testing for demodex, a type of mange.
If you got her from a reputible breeder, demodex shouldn't be a problem, but it happens.
Demodex is thought to be genetic and if she has it she should be spayed as soon as possible. This also cuts back on the outbreaks as it eliminates the stress of coming into heat.
It sounds more like a dry coat or even allergies.
Hope this helps!

Chances are it is a reaction to the food you are feeding. If you are feeding any food from Petco, Petsmart, Walmart or a grocery store, stop immediately. It is all but poison. Read "Foods Pets Die For" by Ann N Martin if you don't believe me.
Go to naturapet.com and read about the best food available. They also have a "skin and coat supplement" that works wonders.
Other good foods are Wellness, and Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's soul (yes, that is a dog food)
Good Luck

Keeping the Peke coat healthy and presentable requires brushing once a day. If you do this, they will need to see a groomer only once every 3 months. If a Peke becomes dirty, it is important to take it to a groomer as soon as possible, as it is difficult to remove dirt from its coat once it has dried, but this can be avoided if by brushing regularly, especially the belly, and between the front and hind legs. It is also important to remove dirt from the eye pores daily, and from the creases on the face to prevent sores (hotspots)

My advise is for her to be seen by a vet and taken to a professional groomer.

Don't know what you are using for fleas. Revolution is good for fleas and two types of mange in case this is a chance that puppy may have. Puppies can have mange. Have you talked to your vet? Oil in food is good too. Our Pek never had a problem as long a I used revolution. Front-line didn't work on her. Good Luck

It could be lots of things. If she's getting a good quality dog food, oil in her food, regular grooming, then I'd suggest taking her to the vet for a check.

Not sure whether a dog that young can suffer with Mange but that`s one of the signs. Try giving her supplemental vitamins and cod liver oil in her diet.

Try putting a fish oil capsule in her food, or oil of primrose capsule. But cut them open and mix the oil in the food, because your dog is only small.
