Why would you even care what somebody else thinks about you especially people you don't even know?

I don't know why they do it other then they might have insecurity problems and are looking for a way to get a boost in their ego's.
I could never understand why someone would want perfect strangers rating them.
Especially when people out there are mean and cruel and will rate you like a damn dog just for the fun of it.
But I guess if you put yourself out there to be rated then you take what you get and keep your damn mouth shut........lol

Very insecure. I think it's very interesting though. Most people on the hotornot or whatever site are actually attractive people, now I did say most, there are exceptions.... Anyway, these people shouldn't be worried about what others think and yet they are the ones that are constantly looking for approval. Maybe their mothers told them they were ugly or they had a gorgeous older sibling. Either way, they need that boost in self-confidence on a daily basis. It's sad really. She is just a child though. She still has a right to be worried about who she is and how she looks. She'll grow out of it. It's the 40-year-olds that do it that bothers me.

At what point did getting an opinion become an insecurity? I would think that a person who was insecure would not post their picture and ask how others feel they look, an insecure person could not take the chance of negative response.

When you are very young, you can feel ugly when you're completely gorgeous. Who cares why someone would ask this question? Help build someones self-esteem, earn the points for answering and move on.

They could just be bored and wanted to have fun, it doesn't have to be about being insecure. I am sure some people are, and others think it is funny. I always rate them, cause it gets me points!!!..lol.....

I don't think people are insecure if they did that. either they want compliments or really do want to see what people think. Everyone cares what people think. If we didn't then we all would be walking naked, and we wouldn't even care what people would say about our bady parts

I think the whole point is the people DON'T know them.
So they feel less insecure, but...
