I joined the Marine Corps when I was 32 years old, so it is possible. First you need to ask for an age waiver and then they will ask you to write a letter explaing why you want to be part of the Marine Corps. Next they will see if you are physically fit. you will need to run 3 miles in at least 28 minutes, do three pull ups and 80 sit ups in two minutes( that is the minimum you are allowed to do). Additionally, they will check your police record do be ceratin that you are not a criminal.
Please keep in mind that once in booth camp you will be treaded as a recruit, they will not favor you becase of you age. And after booth and MOS traing, you will go to your duty station where you will have 18 years old Cpl in your face giving orders and you have obey them because he is an NCO.
Finally, if you have eggs as big as water-melon, good look because The Marine Corps booth camp is hard and intense but not impossible. If you are not up for the challenge, you can always go to the Army, the maximum age is 42 years.

Check again they may be one of the branches of Service that has raised its age limits recently. It was in Yahoo News a few days ago that age limits have been raised to 41 or 42 I know in the Army. I am not sure if that covers the Marines or not but I did read that the Marines has been given the OK to call ex-marines back into service. Good Luck with which ever you choose. If the Marines won't take you please consider the Army. We need more people with your courage and character in our military family. If you want to know why I speak as I do, my daughter is in the Army and I Live with her and help her with my granddaughter. God Bless You!

The best thing for you do is to join the navy, be a corpsman and ask for an assignment with the marines. There is an age limit in the marines. But, the navy will accept you.

Think this through.Maybe you already have.My husband is in Iraq now and it is horrible. We pray that the soldiers make it home safely every night and that he gets to come home alive.Alot of people are all "gung ho" about going, but when they get there they see that its real, not a game. Not just talk. Its a nightmare and you dont wake up,unless you are lucky enough to make it home. And as we all know thats not always the case.I am unsure, but I have heard that the Army is the only branch that has year long tours as oposed to 6 months in other branches.I just know that if he could do it over he wouldnt. The government doesnt provide the proper equipment to bring them home safely.

I can tell you that age is usually NOT waiverable. I am surprised that is the case though, since the Marines and the Army are so pressed for people.
Can I ask why you want to join the Marines, though? I am not asking because I devalue it. I am asking because I counsel youth that want to join the military often. (don't take it offensive, I know that you are not youth). Please email me and I will see what I can do.

Talk to a Marine recruiter. But if you suggest that you want to joint him or his service I don't believe you'll be in any shape to join your granny's sewing cicle. 34 isn't that old so someone was being kind in turning you down.

I don't know what the Marines standards are, but if you want to join the Army, they will take you up to age 39.

Try the army they are non age descrimative.Or at least they were.Be a go getter.Sign up for the 18 series(special ops).If you are joining at your age, it proves you are serious.,So go for it.Marines want you young, dumb ,and full of ***.Army is not quite that selective.Plus the job you sign up for in the marines is a.......grunt.All infantry .I have had friends the marines kicked to the curb, but the army took them.
