well how about make choc chip cookies and or picnic and go for a hike/treasure hunt and see what u can find. I have done that with my dd and neice it is fun. Then when u want a rest u eat and identify ur
treasure.
Granola bars are also fun to make as is muffins or trail mix.
my dd is now into American Girl dolls so we have doll parties.
Oh there is another idea movie fest with treats and sleeping bags
or game night /day. Or do a jammie day and hang out all day in ur jammies and watch the tube or play games and read we have all sorts of fun,
Good luck

8 year olds love hair and makeup. Let her fix your hair and makeup anyway she wants. You will be a hero. Fix hers too. Bring over some of your jewelry and other accessories AND SHOES and dress up. She will love getting to play in a cool teenager's stuff. Also for $1 you can buy sidewalk chalk. You will enjoy it as much as she does. Kids from 1 to 60 love to write on the sidewalk. You sound like a very good sitter :)

My kids are 8,7 and 5. They are all very active and imaginative. All 3 love to do the following things ( maybe the twins will like them too): baseball, soccer, Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, play with their dolls and action figures (I have 2 girls and a boy, he doesn't play with dolls but he will play with his sisters only to use his dinosaurs and Rescue Heroes), Play Doh, finger paint, Tag, swim, make forts, color/draw pictures, play games on the computer ( I recommend Yahooligans), ride bikes, roller blade, sidewalk chalk , make collages (actually anything that involves glue sticks is always a winner). Hope one of those will fit the bill. Good luck and have fun!

Go to WalMart and pick up these craft kits:
Perler bead kits (they will do this fo hours!)
Hemp Jewelry Kits
Scrapbooking kits
Lanyard Kits
Or, you can go to one of those paint it yourself pottery places.
Go on a hike at the local park and find things like little pinecones, twigs, leaves to glue onto a paper picture frame. Then spray paint it.
Another fun thing is manicures and pedicures. Or scavenger hunts, or what my kids call "plan B"...finding something that can be recycled and made into something else.
Or, go outside and have them take colored pencils and nice paper and have them sketch animals or things that they see.
One more...item bingo. You can download a free bingo maker program and make up bingo cards with household items or just random items listed instead of numbers. The girls each get a card and have to bring you the items needed to make "BINGO".
(I use this one often for my youth group)

I babysit for 4 year old twins (a little younger) but I usually go to a craft store before going over and find "ready made" projects like plates they can decorate for Mom and Dad. We also bake. The cookie dough that is already to go is great cuz the kids can put it on the pan and they feel special, also movies, board games, as long as you're doing "something" they're happy! Kids are fairly easy to please!

make a collage, cut out pictures from magazines and glue them onto paper with a glue stick. Get out the Sunday ads from the newspaper and have them make a wish list for birthdays or Christmas, cut out the games and toys or whatever they like from the ads and glue them to a piece of paper. Finger painting is always a treat, but messy. Have them help you in the kitchen by making healthy snacks... ants on a log was a favorite for my twins... wash celery stalks, fill with peanut butter and top with raisins. Just be creative, crafts and snack making can be fun, and doesn't have to be expensive.

I babysit my nephews too. They're 8 and 6. We do craft projects. Finger painting pictures, foam stamps. clay modeling, We do jigsaw puzzles, legos, kickball, and blow bubbles. Cooking is cool too. I bake cupcakes and they ice it. or they put the cookie dough on the sheets. I teach them how to dip strawberries into chocoloate or we do s'mores. Puppet shows before naptime once a month.

I would go outside and ride bikes with them or play catch while the weather is still nice. You should get their parents to buy some board games from wal-mart. You could play video games. Draw and paint pictures. Cook desserts with them.

there is a such thing as an easy bake oven where you can make your own little cakes and cookies by heating up cake mix with a lightbulb. they used to advertise it on tv. the one kid might like that.
you could watch a movie with them, or just cartoons. kids always like cartoons.
if you are aloud to, take them to the park every so often so they get excercise. the one kid can make pretend food out of the things around her, like leaves and bark, and the other can hide in the slides.
most kids like video games. or you could have a story time where you read them an adventure story.
do they take naps? most kids their age take naps which leaves the sitter time to themselves.
you could put on your own homemade fashion show and include them. they could dress like chefs or in camo.

Check out this website. I find things on it for my kids (ages 4 and 10)
PS....there are these things called Perler Beads in the craft section at Walmart. You make designs with beads on a grid board and then iron them to make them melt together. They are neat and both my kids are REALLY into those these days!
