At that age friendships between boys and girls can be very close and warm, so having a very dear and close friend is great to survive those difficult teenage years to come.
But if by "date" you mean have a romantic relationship (which might involve making out to safe sex to the whole thing) then it's definetely toooooooooooooo early. At eleven you're just a kid, and even when emotional complexity exists in you, you still need to learn more from life to make the kind of decisions a relationship demands.

No a girl can not date a boy at the age of 11yrs. First off it it against the law and at the age of 11 you have not matured enough to handle yourself in a situation like that.

My daughter is also 11 and there is no need for any type of dating. I always tell her that she needs to focus on school and school activities. She has more than enough time to date when she gets older.

Date? No. I'd say a good "dating" age is about 16. But having a "boyfriend" that you see at school and stuff is fine. I had my first kiss in the third grade! Boys are so naughty! lol

If both parties are 11 (10,12) then I think it would be fine. They say its serious but its just to look cool around there friends. Its a play thing.
