All other immigrants that came to this country had to go through processes to become citizens. they were tested for diseases, criminal history, had to take classes and pass tests, and wait on visas. people from other countries continue to do this yet primarily mexicans think they are above doing all this and should have citizenship handed to them. so again what makes them so special as to expect this?

They DON'T think they are better than past immigrants. You're also commonly mistaken about a point: Mexican illegal immigrants only make a portion of the illegal immigrants in this country. You have illegals from places like Ireland, China, England, etc who may have came here for a 'short stay' but their visas have run out or came here on a schooling grant but has expired. I think sometimes people use their hatred towards a certain minority group and use immigration as an excuse for their ignorant prejudices. Getting angry at them will not make the problem go away. We have to find a solution that both sides would be happy about--such as making paper work easier for people to understand so they will come in the legal way. Its about putting yourself in their shoes too.

They seem to. I am only agreeing with the Mexican portion because that is the most prevalent illegal immigrant in the country. There are others, but you don't see Irish illegal aliens parading up and down the streets demanding assistance. About a hundred years ago when my family came over they had to jump though hoops to prove they would be loyal and a benefit to this country. It should be the same for everyone.

You better bone up on your history. For a great part of the history of the United States people just came here with no regulations on them at all. Millions just came on in. By the way why did the Pilgrims and the other immigrants of that time think they were so special and could just come to America and take whatever land they wanted from the Indians. As you ask, what made them so special as to expect to take whatever they wanted. Then after the United States became a country what made the American people think they could just go wherever they wanted on the continent and take whatever they wanted without anyones permission. If someone stood in their way they were eliminated. They just though they could take what they wanted. Great way to become citizens of the land.

I think many look down on others -in this case they resent that others did it the right way-and they didn't (rather they could or not).
