Contrary to wht alot of people are sayin flys do have 'familys' but not in the sense we think of, the 'mother' lays billions of lava so a family is there - i guess!
also my daughter (5) was possativly MAD with me the other day when i threw a spider out the window - humanely may i add - she screamed "nooooooo what are you doing? you just broke his leg and now his mummy and daddy won't know where to find him!!! How would you like it if someone came and threw me out of a window?" to which i was deeply shamed and honestly had no answere to!
So in answere to your question, maybe the family wouldn't grieve.... but my daughter sure would!

Of course it's family grieves. Then they call in the ants to remove the corpse.

Its family cares more about surviving and reporducing to be worried of their family... plus, I don't think they have that much of a developed brain... plus, have you ever seen funeral lines where flies ride in with their best suits on and cars?

LOL!

In one of my college courses today, we used a big solar lens to burn a cricket. As its little corpse was burning and stinking the place up, I thought; "Well, he won't be going home to his kids..."

Seriously though, I doubt it. Insects are too simple of creatures to portray emotion.

probably not since most animal parents (like flies) especially those that have a lot of offspring don't have a very close relationship with their offspring after they're adults

flies don't live in family units.
they don't have emotions
they live to eat , breed and lay eggs and then they die after just a couple of weeks (if that long).

No, they're too numerous. They'd never survive the stress - they'd spend their whole existence going to funerals.

no, but if you pull a flies wings off it does go deaf, you can tell it to fly all day and it won`t

No, insects don't have feelings...or families..they are larvae(maggots) that get left behind and turn into flies. They don't live together...geesh.
