When I had an aviary I had cockatiels, finches and a pr of parakeets in there.
I learned the hard way---you can not put love birds in there. I tried putting six peach face lovebirds in there with them. My daughter called them "The green Bay Packers" because they would get in a huddle and then run and chase one of the gentler birds down.
Also, putting a bobwhite quail in the bottom of my aviary was a mistake too. I looked in one day and "Lonesome George" was walking across the floor with a finch in his mouth.

If you want to put a cockatiel and a parakeet together.

My experience is to buy a New cage and put them in there . Birdie psychology is -- they will think they are in each others home and behave themselves.

Different Breeds Of Cockatiels

I had a budgie and a tiel that shared a cage....they got along fine. Now I have a green cheeked conure and a tiel in a cage together. They get along MOST of the time. You need to be cautious when doing this because the smaller birds tend to be bullys. The biggest problem would be....the birds pulling feathers or biting the feet of the other bird.

I would also like to add that if you do keep them in a cage together ...chances are the birds will bond. Which means ....you will no longer be your birds true love. lol

I see different birds in cages together all the time. Now of course, I wouldn't put parakeets in with a raptor, but I think parakeets and cockatiels are safe for the most part.

well it should be fine, but you want to keep them apart for about three days (but cages next to each other) to make sure the cockatiel doesn't dis-like the parrakeets and make them imune to each other :). Even a bird thats not sick can get a bird sick. It sound odd, but if a new bird drinks out of a differant birds water bowl, and it's body not used to the other bird, it could cause one of them to get sick. when birds get sick it takes 24-7 attention for it not to die!
So yeah u can put them together but the first few days no.
also remember that a cockatiel needs a cage slightly larger then an average budgie cage (parrakeet cage).

good luck!

Well it definitely depends on the personalty of the bird. Before you buy the bird, you should research the type of bird to understand what it is like. If research proves that the bird is friendly, then go right ahead and put them in the same cage, but personally i would just go and buy a different cage anyways...

If you can, put the new bird in a cage near the other one for a few days to let them get used to each other, before you put them together.

Like I was telling another person.

We used to breed both of those types of birds.

And they get along fine.

Remember these rules though:

Watch for feather pullers (birds who pluck another bird's feathers)
Remove an ill bird from the community cage
Make sure they have enough room
Remove birds with eggs

Paracocks? Pssh. C0ck-n-teets is WAY funnier. I deserve 10pts for that. Because I'm drunk.

You won't have any problems. Although, personalities do vary from bird to bird. I have 2 cockatiels, and one is really nice, and the other with attack the hell out of anything that moves.

Ordinarily you can mix birds of the same size that eat the same food. You shouldn't have any trouble with the birds you mentioned.
