The difference in time and effort between a modern solvent free two coat sealant and three coats of linseed oil and turpentine which take an age to soak in , well, which one to chose?

I'd go with the flat polyurethane finish on a Chestnut floor. The linseed and turpentine is a PITA.

My sister did it the linseed oil way. It is beautiful but harder to keep up. She said never again. Next time she is going with a poly sealant, cause it is easier.

If you use Flecto brand Varathane you can get 3 coats done in a 24 hour period........ water based top coat will dry faster...
