Or is there always a cycle of healing and repair?
It seems like many people think we can't solve the worlds problems and I hear it from all walks of faith. How are we able then to make it. I'm not a pessimist but I want logical answers from every belief system, without seriously discrediting other belief systems.

We need the idea of a self-sustaining society for a couple of reasons. One is for a spring-board for our spirituality. We need to have the physical world to use as a comparison of sorts. The spiritual goal of all religions is to transcend the physical body and the physical world. If we were able to achieve such a state, we would easily be in a position to help solve those vexing problems plagueing the planet, as those silly scientologists are supposedly able to do, but are incapable of doing. It is not so much a matter of belief systems, but faith and belief and a strong desire toward perfection.

Good question. There are those who say that spirituality will lead an individual to maintain things in moderation, although the acts of spiritual extremists of all stripes discount this idea.

We probably need to address each problem on an individual basis. For example, it's hard to imagine that we can solve both the energy crisis and AIDS crisis following the same course. But it is doubtful that religion or spirituality alone offer any panacea to solve the world's problems, but it can off individuals a way to cope with the anxiety that those problems engender.

i have always felt there is a cycle in our journey here on earth ...
after wars there is a calm .. after deaths there seems to be higher birth rates ... a balance is always made
we cant solve world problems instantaneously but we can work towards it as a piece of the solution ... each voice counts in making the world better
and i totally believe that with each conflict making a greater impact on the world .. that people are becoming more spiritual , compassionate , empathic and charitable
so maybe one day the scales will be off balance , but in the right way ... as more healing is given to the world than anger and hate
( i live in hope )

I feel spirituality is personal, and also intermingles with others in society. This is how I view my meditative practice. It starts with just me, then grows to include those within physical proximity, then further to encompass something larger than I can imagine on a physical level. Eventually I take everything back inside me, and my meditation is complete. I have my individuality, and my sense of connection with the world.

When you say "solve the world's problems" do you mean ALL of the world's problems? If so, that is a tough task. But I think if all nations were on the same page politically and ethically, then we'd have less problems.

Not everyone is spiritual, but egotistical.
