hey, i'm a 17 year old male who used to be reeeally fit until this summer... since the begining of this summer i have piled on 62+lbs. due to lack of exercise, binge eating, eating sugary foods & other issues such as my "urge to gain weight" which means i enjoy myself overweight & plan on continuing to gain weight...
yet i have noticed in the past month or so i have started getting chest pains. like when i climb stairs, eat ALOT or sometimes no apparent reason...
my question is am i too young to have a heart attack?? i mean my parents & doctors say i MUST lose weight, watch what i eat & work out!but i'm like screw that!! so can anybody help me with this??
my current stats are 5'10 217lbs. up from 160ish a few months ago! i also have a rather round belly @ 46 inches which makes me look pregnant which i find quite amusing. i also have huge thighs which is an utter pain AND also man boobs "moobs" which are slightly unsightly but w/e keep in mind i was inshape a few months ago...

Your heart attack may not happen until you are in your 40's if you are lucky. However, diabetes may happen much sooner. If you are truly determined to dig your grave with a knife and fork and spoon, no one on here is likely to persuade you differently. Take care.

Anyone can have a heart attack.
This drastic change in your body composition is incredibly dangerous to your health.
Don't do this to yourself as you will regret it 5 years from now while looking at your credit report and seeing hundreds of thousands of dollars of hospital bills you will definetly have because of the problems you are going to incure.
Nevermind the fact that you could die!!
I have no idea why all the sudden you've decided to do this to yourself, but change it while your young. When you hit 25-27 man your stuck that way, and you will eventually most definetly have a heart attack.
Besides gluttony is sooo unattractive. And I'm sure you would like to have a beautiful lady friend who wants an inshape sexy dude.
Seriously get off your *** and do something about it unless your urge to gain weight includes your urge to die at the age of 33.
Oh and you'll get diabetes within 2-3 years. Do you like pricking yourself with multiple needles daily?? You should think about that too!

I was no more than a few weeks old when I went into cardiac arrest. (The cause is not known to this day. I am 23 years old.) You can be afflicted with heart problems at any age.
I have been diagnosed with a condition known as anoxia cardiomyopathy. This is partly because of the cardiac arrest and partly do to congestive heart failure. (The cardiomyopathy is the result of the scaring left by both.)
You can gain wieght by eating healthier. Escape binge eating and sugary foods. Concentrate on eating fruits and vegetables instead. If you must have meat, eat poultry or fish. Eat fried foods as sparingly as possible. Load up on carbohydrates - such as from pasta and whole grain crackers.

Children as young as ten have had myocardial infarctions due to atherosclerotic disease, but those children have major (and exceedingly rare) metabolic/blood lipid abnormalities. You may have put enough weight on that your heart is straining, though. Rapid weight gain can lead to "heart problems" such as congestive heart failure without fixed vascular lesion.
It is good that you are aware of this and addressing this issue before it worsens. Was there an event that initiated this out of control eating? It might be helpful for your weight control in the near and distant future for you to figure out where and why control was lost. There are psychologists that specialize in eating disorders, and sounds like you might be a good candidate for that.
Best wishes in this endeavor.

Yes you can have a heart attack at any age, due to a lot of causes and one of them is certainly overeating and being over weight.
However the fact that you are worried about a heart attack is a minor detail, why you want to be fat and like being fat is the real problem, you should perhaps look into a good psychologist before you see a heart specialist.

Yes, teens can have heart attacks. That kind of weight gain is unusual, I'd contact my doctor about it if I were you. There could be an underlying medical concern causing both the gains and the pains.

You don't need to have a diet. Do quick, yet stressful, exercises (like at least 30 pushups a day, and if you keep increasing the goal by like fives per week, then the better), and you'll be fine. If you've done too much and your muscles are sore the next day, then you can skip one day at most.

Your over worked little heart can't take it anymore. I don't think you are too young to have a heart attack. You should tell your parents and your doctor about your pain right away.

Heart attack at this age is possible if you used too much cocaine, heart disease is still possible but unlikely. I would still recommend to see a doctor, it may be muskul;oskeletal or even heart burn. good luck, feel free to email any questions
