Because it makes a whole lot more sense than, "oh, all the extremely complex organisms and creatures just happened to form,.. no reason!" I mean seriously, how can people believe that? It's like putting some random stuff in a bag, shaking it up, and believing that if you have it there long enough, a human, or a computer will eventually emerge from the bag. Nonsensical!

I must comment on Mark M's response. God is love. Grab a concordance, check it out. I Corinthians 13:5b "[Love] keeps no record of wrongs"

Well Justin there aren't any. This is the catch if you believe you dont need reasons. Someone very wise said that faith starts where reason ends. This is religions main strength and its main fault.Yes it can support you whatever happens around you because it streams from another, spiritual world. But no you cannot find reasons to support your belief that stream from this world. And lets face it this world has become more and more about reason and cold logic. That is why it has fallen off religion. So do not poison your faith with reason-they don't mix.Just find comfort in your believes and know that nothing in this world can actually put them to the test-this world can only test you , not belief or religion.

I don't believe in a god, so I cannot assume that believing in something false could be good at all. However, if it makes you happy, and you don't impose your belief system on me, then I have no problem with you believing in a god. I do not, however, want to be told that I am in the wrong when neither of us can really prove to the other the truth in our beliefs. Have a nice night.

"They have you convinced that tehre's an invisible man somewhere above the clouds. And he keeps a big book, and in that book he keeps a looong list of all the bad things you've ever done. And when you finally die you come before him and he reads off all your mistakes that he's written down, and then he casts you into an eternal hell of fire, and burning, and screaming, and pain that goes on for ever and ever and ever...

"But he LOVES you...

"And he always needs MONEY!"

George Carlin

Outside of the scare tactics of the Christian faith, there really isn't a good reason to believe in an invisible, vinsictive, egomaniacal sky-daddy.

Once you know there's a God, you know that everything he does is right. Makes life a little easier to accept. Your suffering isn't random.

Try this on for size:

You win a trip to Hawii and you miss the plane. Bad news, right? Forgot to tell you, the plane crashed in the ocean. Everything that happens has a reason when you believe in God. He knows the whole picture and I don't.

The faith that you'll see your kids and wife/husband on the other side. It's hard to imagine not being able to laugh or say "I love you" as much as we do now after we are all gone!

Having faith, no matter who you call God, is a good enough reason!

You beleive that you have a place to go to when you die. But the problem is that it may be hell. That isn't a good reason is it? Well, heaven is. That is the only reason I can say. Oh yeah, because you get to be stupid.

There aren't any *good* reasons for believing in god.

Most people just believe anyway.
