I do feel bad for them as well--at least the ones forcing themselves into thinn-ness by whatever means possible. They have been led to believe that being judged by external criteria is more important than being judged based on their intelligence or personality. The world has enough THIN people. Now we need considerate, giving people. The two don't necessarily have to be separate but it seems they are all too often.

I'm naturally weight less-- 89 pounds at 58 inches-- but I'm not that skinny... i'm not a stick and I consider stick people to be alienish... they freak me out to the point of disgust! you can see their bones and everything... i feel pity for them at times because of all the pressures the media and others inflict on them but it just stops there... I just think they ought to be strong enough to withstand those pressures.

Well it is such a popular this in the hollywood world that people want to look like that. It isn't pretty at all especially when people are 00 and below. It just does look natural or healthy.

it's a north american standard of beauty. Besides, of course plastic surgery. It is the most modifiable factor meaning that they may not be able to change the things about themselves that they inherited genetically. but they can control their weight.
Being skinny, in their eyes says "you may have a big nose, but you are skinny" so your beautiful.

well, its mostly because of media pressure (with woman like Nicole Richie attempting to become a skeleton for her beauty; and she doesnt even look pretty!!!) and the idea (that came from who-knows-where) that skinny girls are better than other girls. i mean, i think curvy girls are better, but not all people.
BUT, its bad to be skinny, but its kinda worse being really fat, or obese. so i dunno.
i think in-between is the best. curvy, you know.
hope this helps

Because it's the American culture right now, unfortunately. The thinner we are the more praise we receive from men, in turn, more women recognize this and try to get thin....and the cycle goes on and on.
