I had a D&E (dialation + evacuation.. where they use a suction instead of curretage) regular with usual cramping. As it was ending, i began to spot a tiny bit of brown blood nothing major and I am not spotting anymore but soemtimes when i whipe myself its very light brown and a tiny bit. I was wandering is this normal?
And if so, can i get pregnant if i were to have unprotected sex now?
** ALSO: I am not asking for you to judge me, I know that I made a mistake and been through a lot because of it.. you can say all the hurtful words you want but none of the words you say can effect me half as much as the abortion itself did**

Yes, I think it is normal. Also, you could definitely get pregnant now if you had unprotected sex. How about if I don't judge you but just beg you to never have sex without protection unless you are as ready and willing to be a mom as you can be? Once is a mistake, not more than once. Don't put yourself through that again. Please!

The after effects of a D&E are the same as a D&C, which is basically the same surgery now, since they use a vacuum and not a curretage. You might have slight spotting until you have a regular period, all this is, is dried blood and the remanants of the pregnancy and procedure being expelled.

Your period should resume with in 4-6 weeks after you stop bleeding. With that said, you will ovulate about 2 weeks before you have your period, so that would be about 2-4 weeks after you've stopped bleeding. I would also recommend a follow up visit with GYN, to make sure that you've healed properly and that that you are infection free.

So, if you've been having unproted sex during your ovulation phase, you will become pregannt. If you don't know how to chart, or track your ovulation, get a hold of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" it's a great book, which can teach you how to track your cycles so that you can avoid pregnancy in the future, and won't have to go thru the physical and emotional trauma of an abortion.

I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope you find the healing and the comfort you need to get you thru this time.

Yes, you can get pregnant ...it's always a possibility. I think what you're asking is if you can get pregnant before having a regular period. You will ovulate before you have a period, so if you happen to have unprotected sex during that time, which you'll have no idea when it is, you could absolutely conceive again. You know what the next sentence is going to be: Don't have unprotected sex. The spotting you're experiencing could be normal. It sounds like you were a few months along when you had the abortion. It would help me to answer your question better if you could tell me how many weeks you were at the time of the abortion. You can email me if you'd like to.

I'm not judging you. I'm so sorry it had to happen - I know you're aching....

There is nothing wrong with you, but,if I was you, I would go to my doctor and ask for an implant where they can put that in your arm or something that last for either three years, or five (I heard there was one that lasts up to that long) then, you would never be "chancing" it. An abortion is your right and I agree with it, but,I do not feel that you get one abortion and then, a month later, you have unprotected sex and you are pregnant-again-and planning to get another abortion. then it would be sad. just get the implant so you won't have to ask a question like this again.

I really don't know if it is normal. I had a D&C (I think) done after I had a partial miscarriage about 7 years ago and I remember that I was bleeding a little bit, but I think it was only a week or so.

And yes... you can get pregnant very easily if you do not protect yourself. Please make sure you are protected!

Also... you will get judged on here because some people feel that they are perfect and need to correct everyone that isn't. Just remember, noone is perfect and make sure you take time to heal yourself... physically and emotionally. Good Luck!

It is normal, and it is a very dangerous time to have sex if pregnancy is not what you want.. clearly it is not.. Your hormones are going crazy right now, and could possible releasing eggs outside of normal ovulation.. Get on the pill ...wait a month and use a condom for a while. Trust me.
Don't worry about what anyone thinks..you did the right thing for you.. good luck!

You can always get pregnat from unprotected sex. My friend refuses to get on birthcontrol and has gotten an abortion more than once.

Not judging just think-do you really want to go through another abortion?? The math is pretty
simple Sperm+Egg=baby. NEVER have unprotected sex!!! If he doesn't want to use something then he must have something to hide. It's not worth it.
