Im turning on a 30 MPH speed limit street coming off a 45 MPH speed limit road. The new road that I turned left on is a passing zone, and the car in front of me just turned onto the same road. Can/Will I get pulled over for speeding even though Im passing?

OPINIONS PLEASE

If you are going in excess of the speed limit, you can be pulled over. The sign did not say "Speed Limit 30 MPH (unless you are passing)" I would pull you over!

There are not two speed limits. You exceeded the speed limit. The cop was correct in his judgment. How did you know the car in front of you wasn't going to go the speed limit? By making the assumption that the car in front of you needed to be passed, the cop could have charged you with driving recklessly in addition to speeding.

all you have to do is go over the speed limit. youre not supposed to pass unless the people in front of you are going slower than the speed limit. and if they arent and you pass them then you must have reservations to speed, so yes i think you would get pulled over.

Yes. Its only legal to pass when you don't have to break the speed limit to do so.

cops can pull you over just for looking at them wrong...they are all idiots..they don;t need a reason ...they usually just make one up as they go along.
