You are dead right, Errie. It has been clearly shown time and time again that it is nurture rather than nature which makes the child.
A child deserves to have stability during the formative years 0-6
and two parents are much better than one to teach social behaviour.

I'm from the US, but I don't think this is a bad idea. I'm not so worried about the "Menace to society" issue, but I think its a good idea to get these kids (the parents and the children) some help in a very difficult time. Praises to the UK for forward thinking. This sounds good for the US too.

Sounds good, but will it be enforced the way the creators of the law intended and the way you hope? In the States and in Pennsylvania, for instance, students with special needs, whatever they are, are entitled to monitoring and individualized educations. So, for example, if the child is blind, he can have someone with him to explain what's going on that he can't see. You can see how it would progress if, say, the child had emotional problems or diminished cognitive abilities. The reality is that it just doesn't happen unless there's a parent who is perseverant and insistent. So, I hope that these proposals work as they intend and it works out the way you hope.

fullyyt believe you about paying a respectable salary to those who do the artwork. the actual undeniable truth that they don't pay a good salary for such artwork now may be the reason no individual is prepared to do it. about the lone mothers and fathers, back some type of help should be concept out and proper carried out. and there is the rub, we've a nu labour authorities which couldn't organise catching a disease in a brothel. Ergo, the entire scheme is doomed to fall on this is expensive @rse.

Why throw generlisations around? I know 'teen' mums who have made a total go of it and been very sucsessful and support themselves.
There are some who expect hand outs but the goverment makes it very easy for these parents, on the outside. The goverment needs to support those that need it in other ways than just financially.
And I also know young thugs who come from very cushy backgrounds so your precious tax money isn't just paying to clean up after teen mums kids!
Take your blinkers of mate.

i see what you are saying here but not all teenage mothers are the same! just because they are young doesnt mean they will bring there children up in a bad way! a lot of older parents have bad behaved children! and live off benefits! i think its wrong how single mums or young mums are always put down!

i think it depends i've known some older parents who have always pandered to their children's needs to the extent that they become just as much of a menace to society. i think teenage parents need help in teaching their children good moral standards, as they may not have enough life experience to be able to teach their children the necessary life lessons. i think the teenage parents who purposely have children to stay on benefits are a disgrace, because they are narrow minded enough to think that parenting is easier than getting a job...well it's not, and a job and earning your wage to provide for your family is much more satisfying than living on benefits! it's a sorry state of affairs

i totally agree with you, i have nothing against teens getting pregnant but i have problem with the fact that they cant support themselves or their child and its good honest hard working folks that have to pay taxes to keep a roof over their heads.
the goverment is a shambles.
