You didn't say something that was "positive" about christians. You made a comparison to others and declared christians to be superior.

There is a big difference between these statements:
a) Christians lead good lives
b) Christians lead better lives than everyone else.

The first is just saying something positive.

That is NOT what you did.

Your statement was of the latter form.

It's arrogant, it's intolerant, it's ignorant, and you deserve ever ounce of outrage that you got.

Here's a bit of advice:

Grow up.

In the adult world, you are treated with the respect that you earn.
Act like an @sshole, and you'll be treated like one.

Technically speaking; being 'Christian or not, probably has little to do with it. The point is which is easier; building people up; or tearing people down.
As a Christian, we are told to think on the good/prue things (Phil. 4:8), and thinkof the things of others (Phil. 2:4)

Oh, as if whenever something is said about other people there isn't always at least one or a few arrogant Christians that have to charge in like "no, no, no, they haven't accepted our Jesus and our god so they are going to hell, we know it all and are better then everyone else." (No offense to the percentage that isn't like that.)

You really expect happiness out of other people when you treat them like dirt? Try a nice big slice of reality next time. People who are abused, be it psychical or verbal, aren't going to be joyful about anything said of their abuser.

Bitterness usually, and the fact that the negatives so strongly overide the positives that it is just pathetic when a Christian tries to defend their beliefs with one positive. When you have a dogmatic belief, when you believe you have the ultimate truth there is no room for mistakes or negatives. God cannot be imperfect or anything but positive right?

Why are so many Christians angry when something positive is said about non-Christians? It's all the same thing. Everybody thinks they are right and everyone who disagrees with them is wrong.

I really hate it when people do that. Get mad at you when you say something positive about God...yes very sad. I am a Christian myself, and I am very proud of it. I really wish that some of those people would get how great it is...to be a believer of Him.

Probably because many Christians are so judgmental and quick to condemn based on their interpretation of the Bible. I was raised in the church and in my mind Jesus was all about love, compassion, understanding of the ones society cast aside. Paul was the one issuing forth with condemnation and judging, not Jesus. But certainly politically active Christian conservatives seem to have taken up Paul's path.

Because like politics religion has many aspects and differs from person to person... no one really knows the truth and everyone is sure they are right ... so if you want to discuss those two subjects make very sure you know who your talking to ...otherwise get ready for a long debate that ends with no one winning

Funny, I can't recall the last time anyone got angry simply because something positive was said about a Christian.
